Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw) is Canada’s largest food and pharmacy retailer. The proudly Canadian, fourth-generation family-run business has been innovating the grocery retail experience since 1919. Today, their goal is to be the best in food, health, and beauty to help Canadians Live Life Well®.
Loblaw encompasses multiple industries, including grocery and household items, clothing, baby products, pharmaceuticals, cellular phones, general merchandise, and financial services. Many of the well-known brands under the Loblaw umbrella include Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart, Real Canadian Superstore, President’s Choice, No Name, Joe Fresh, T&T, Provigo, Exact, Life, Seaquest, Azami, and Teddy’s Choice. More than 90% of Canadians live within 10 kilometres of the 2,400 Loblaw affiliated location stores and nearly 200,000 employees.
Earlier this month, the company released its 14th annual CSR Report – its most comprehensive to date and marks a significant milestone on its ESG disclosure journey. Beyond reporting against GRI, SASB and mapping the UN SDGs, the report highlights key achievements on carbon reduction, food waste, local sourcing and commitments to advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
“Loblaw is guided by a shared set of values and grounded in our commitment to social and environmental responsibility,” said Tonya Lagrasta, Senior Director, Corporate Social Responsibility at Loblaw Companies Limited. “In the years ahead, you can expect to see us lean even further into our commitments and efforts to lead change and help make a positive difference in the areas that matter most to Canadians. We view our CBSR membership as a natural part of our efforts to be a transparent sustainability leader in Canada.”
“We are so happy to have an iconic Canadian company like Loblaw joining as a CBSR member,” said Leor Rotchild, Executive Director of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility. “We are looking forward to supporting them on their sustainability journey.”
